Lifeguard Certification Course

• Work for Tooele City as a a life guard (must be 15) and get reimbursed the $125 course fee! Must be 15 by the time the class ends. 
• To pass the class you must pass a skills evaluation, and have 100% class attendance.
• You can be 15 and work for Tooele City as a life guard.

Lifeguarding Training is offered at the Pratt Aquatic Center. 
Must be at least 15 years of age, pass a skills evaluation, and attend all sessions including the pre-test.

List of Requirements:

1. The minimum age to be a lifeguard for Tooele City is 15 years of age.
2. Please bring proof of age to the pre-test.
3. Bring a swimsuit and towel to every class.
4. The skills evaluation will occur on the first day of the course.
5. To participate in the class you must be able to pass the pretest of the following skills:

• • Swim 150 yards continuously, then tread water without using the arms and hands for 2 minutes, then swim for 50 more yards. 
  • Swim 20 yards and dive to the bottom of the pool to retrieve a 10 pound brick. Place the brick on your chest and swim backwards to the pool deck and set the brick on the deck. Climb out of the pool without using a ladder or steps. This must be done within 1 minute and 40 seconds.

The course fee is $125 (must be 15 yrs old by the time the class ends). Life guard pay starts at $14.81 per hour. To pass the class you must pass the pre-test, a skills evaluation, a written test, and have 100% class attendance. Work for Tooele City as a life guard and get reimbursed the $125 course fee. 

Pre-test: Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.
Class starts: Monday, April 15, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.
Classes will continue Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. through May 15, 2024
